Airborne spread of expiratory droplet nuclei between the occupants of indoor environments: A review 下载免费PDF全文
This article reviews past studies of airborne transmission between occupants in indoor environments, focusing on the spread of expiratory droplet nuclei from mouth/nose to mouth/nose for non‐specific diseases. Special attention is paid to summarizing what is known about the influential factors, the inappropriate simplifications of the thermofluid boundary conditions of thermal manikins, the challenges facing the available experimental techniques, and the limitations of available evaluation methods. Secondary issues are highlighted, and some new ways to improve our understanding of airborne transmission indoors are provided. The characteristics of airborne spread of expiratory droplet nuclei between occupants, which are influenced correlatively by both environmental and personal factors, were widely revealed under steady‐state conditions. Owing to the different boundary conditions used, some inconsistent findings on specific influential factors have been published. The available instrumentation was too slow to provide accurate concentration profiles for time‐dependent evaluations of events with obvious time characteristics, while computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies were mainly performed in the framework of inherently steady Reynolds‐averaged Navier‐Stokes modeling. Future research needs in 3 areas are identified: the importance of the direction of indoor airflow patterns, the dynamics of airborne transmission, and the application of CFD simulations. 相似文献

Touching contaminated surfaces might lead to the spread of pathogens, that is, the fomite transmission route. Although hand- and surface-hygiene practices are potentially important non-pharmaceutical interventions for the fomite route, the two interventions have been mostly studied separately in the literature. In this study, we develop a new conceptual model based on the law of mass action, analyze the temporal diffusion of contaminated surfaces and hands, and verify the model with simulations in an assumed norovirus outbreak in a buffet restaurant. A quantitative hygiene criterion is developed for the required frequency of surface disinfection and hand hygiene to control the fomite transmission in indoor environments. To eliminate surface contaminations, the product of pathogen-removal rates (including hygiene and natural death) on hands and surfaces must be no smaller than that of the human hand and surface contact frequency (ie, the net removal product must be non-negative). When the net removal product is negative, the number of contaminated surfaces and hands would show a logistic growth trend and finally approach the equilibrium. Our approach sheds light into how to optimize the combined use of hand hygiene and environmental decontamination for the best effectiveness under different settings. 相似文献

AbstractThe expected longer service life of modified asphalt can be jeopardized by different environmental factors, such as moisture, oxidation, etc. which affect the desired properties by altering the adhesive property. An insight into knowledge of the adhesive property of the asphalt can help in providing more durable asphalt pavement. The study attempted to develop different models of adhesive properties of polymers and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified asphalt binders. The polymer-CNT modified asphalt is processed to prepare different types of samples, by simulating the damage due to moisture and oxidization, following the corresponding standard method. An Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) was employed to assess the nanoscale adhesion force of the tested samples following the existing functional group in asphalt. Finally, the study has developed Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN) as a function of different parameters including; asphalt chemistry (i.e. AFM tip type and constant), type and percentages of polymers and CNTs and different environmental exposures (oxidation, moisture, etc.) to predict the nano adhesion force of asphalt. It is observed that the adhesive property of the Styrene–Butadiene modified asphalt is more consistent compared to the Styrene–Butadiene–Styrene modified asphalt, while the presence of Single-Wall Nanotubes (SWNT) is observed to affect the adhesive properties of asphalt significantly as compared to Multi-Wall Nanotubes (MWNT). FGH96 is one kind of nickel-based superalloy, being widely used in aero engine hot end components due to its superior mechanical properties, while its machinability has been a challenge because of rapid tool wear and low machining efficiency. Recently, ceramic tools have gained widespread attention for their superior performance maintained at high temperatures. This work aims to study the wear mechanisms and the wear effects of monolithic Sialon ceramic tool in the side milling of superalloy FGH96. The specific influences of average flank wear on the side milling forces, machining temperatures, surface quality and micro-hardness of subsurface and the wear modes in the early and serious stage are analyzed. The results indicate that the milling temperatures, machined surface roughness and the depth of hardening layer will increase as the wear increases. While parallel to the cutting direction, the machined surface roughness is about 1.8 μm without significant changes until entering the serious wear stage. The milling force tends to undergo a decrease when the VB is about 0.22 mm, since the temperature is close to the solute temperature of γ’ phase in this stage. High-performance environment-friendly piezoelectric potassium sodium niobate (KNN)-based thin films have been emerged as promising lead-free candidates, while their substrate-dependent piezoelectricity faces the lack of high-quality information due to restraints in measurements. Although piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM) is a potential measuring tool, still its regular mode is not considered as a reliable characterization method for quantification. After combining machine-learning enabled analysis using PFM datasets, it is possible to measure piezoelectric properties quantitatively. Boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) with thickness 5–11 nm were successfully produced when pure boron powder (1–2 μm) interacted with ammonia gas in chemical vapour deposition set up. Under the optimized parameters, at 1200 °C and for uninterrupted 1 h of reaction duration, 2D BNNS with thickness of ca.11 nm were synthesized. BNNS were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) for crystal structure, scanning electron microscopy for dimensions and morphology, energy dispersive X-ray analysis for chemical composition and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy for sp2 BN bond detection. The thickness of BNNS determined from both XRD data (using Scherrer equation) and atomic force microscopic analysis confirmed the stated product thickness. The BNNS obtained at 1200 °C had high crystallinity, purity and yield. 相似文献
